Our Training Methodology

We specialize in a stepped training approach, concentrating on a reality based training methodology. What does this mean? We recognize and accept that simply training on a skill is not good enough. How training is set up and accomplished is key. In our hands-on classes we take our students from a low-level environment where skill acquisition is the primary goal and step them up to a high-level environment where they will perform under a level of outside stressors. Training needs to match the fire ground and that means stressors on the mind and body need to be present. Skills will be demonstrated in the environment to which we are expected to perform. Low or zero visibility, full PPE, SCBA on and breathing air, noise pollution. These are all examples of hurdles we are expected to overcome on the fire ground.

We perscribe to the “crawl, walk, run” philosophy.
